|
Unpack the router and its accessories. |
|
|
Verify that the correct type and number of interfaces are included. |
|
|
Verify that your shipment includes all items. (See Chapter 3.) |
|
|
Optional: Mount the router in place. |
|
|
Make sure you have one properly grounded electrical outlet no more than five feet from where you are going to install the router. |
|
|
Verify you have one Ethernet port available on the switch or hub no more than five feet from where you are going to install the router. You may use a network cable longer than five feet but you will need to purchase it separately. |
|
|
Connect the AC or DC power cables to power sources and the router. |
|
|
Connect the network interface cables and devices. |
|
|
Optional: Attach the ASCII terminal to the console port. |
|
|
Set the console port set to 38400 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit (38400 8N1). |
|
|
Turn on system power and wait for system boot to complete. (Make sure the PWR LED is on.) |
