Unpack the router and its accessories.

Verify that the correct type and number of interfaces are included.

Verify that your shipment includes all items. (See Chapter 3.)

Optional: Mount the router in place.

Make sure you have one properly grounded electrical outlet no more than five feet from where you are going to install the router.

Verify you have one Ethernet port available on the switch or hub no more than five feet from where you are going to install the router.  You may use a network cable longer than five feet but you will need to purchase it separately.

Connect the AC or DC power cables to power sources and the router.

Connect the network interface cables and devices.

Optional: Attach the ASCII terminal to the console port.

Set the console port set to 38400 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit (38400 8N1).

Turn on system power and wait for system boot to complete. (Make sure the PWR LED is on.)
